Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actress who is known for her role as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. At the Maryland high school event in her early years of education she received the award for best actress. Alongside her involvement at the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of The Washington Ballet Company.' She received a degree in Acting from New York University. There was a lot of praise after her debut large performance as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. This was followed by movies such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Her praise was for her performance as a character in Soul Food. Parker who has a keen political interest, is married with actor/model Boris Kodjoe. They have two kids together.

Contractor, born at Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria through the age of seven. She had already experienced many different travels and different cultures at a very young age. She attended boarding school in London between the ages of seven and nine years old, then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her early childhood and adulthood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she was not just a dancer but also studied theater. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting was going to be her future career. She danced for almost 10 year. She received a full-scholarship grant to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theater as well as a double major in social and psychology. Contractor was offered the lead part in Pericles following a brief time at University. The audition was held for it in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. The production she appeared in earned praise from Canadian critics. The opportunity was presented to her to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. It is a private institution that accepts just eight men as well as four female students to study traditional theatre. Contractor was eager to accept. The actress's spot in the next play season was secured and she was chosen of Hermia.
